The Best Caesar Salad Dressing Recipe Without Anchovies

Want a rich, creamy, and versatile salad dressing? This Caesar salad dressing recipe without anchovies is the best one out there that you can conjure up with minimal effort, and it is surprisingly budget-friendly (say bye-bye to store-bought expensive versions!). Convincing enough?

I live in an area where anchovies are extremely cumbersome to find, so this recipe for Caesar salad dressing without anchovies was the best thing I’ve ever come across to enjoy my green salads.

And, even though the traditional Caesar salad dressing is specifically made to combine with Caesar salad, I find this version compliments the flavors of other salads like golden girl salad, corn peas salad, or this peanut salad just as well.

The mayonnaise and mustard sauce do most of the heavy lifting here, but the richness of milk and parmesan cheese truly makes this one of the best dressings I’ve ever had.

And, a squeeze of lemon juice is all you need to brighten it up and add a dash of Vitamin C to your diet.

Plus, it only takes 2 minutes to whip up this bad boy!

Tools You’ll Need

  • Bowl: To make the dressing in.
  • Whisk: To mix all the ingredients and get a lump-free sauce.

Ingredients in this Caesar Salad Dressing Recipe Without Anchovies

Mayonnaise: For a sweet and savory addition.

Dijon Mustard: Its flavor is quite intense and works well with other ingredients.

Garlic: Mince the garlic properly to release more flavor and elevate all the aroma in the dressing.

Soy Sauce: Normally, Worcestershire sauce or capers are blended in the mix, but since I don’t have access to either of them, I chose soy sauce. it is a great alternative and you get the same umami flavor.

Milk: Milk is optional. I use it to thin out the sauce and get the consistency right.

Parmesan Cheese: Parmesan is most commonly incorporated in the dressing, but you can swap it with mozzarella or cheese slices.

Lemon Juice: I tend to overdo the lemon juice because it brightens up the sauce and the citrusy element makes it wonderful.

Tips & Variations

Make it keto-friendly: You can simply make the sauce keto by not using milk as a thinning agent. Pour in some water instead if the dressing is too thick, and get the density on point.

Swap out soy sauce with capers: Skip adding soy sauce altogether to get rid of the excess salt. Instead, you can use capers, they work as an astounding alternative to anchovies as well since we are making a recipe for Caesar salad dressing without anchovies.

I couldn’t find capers anywhere, plus, adding soy sauce is much more convenient. Blend the sauce properly after adding capers to it.

Usage

There are quite a number of ways you can use this Ceasar salad dressing without anchovies.

Sandwich spread: If you want to elevate the flavors of an ordinary sandwich, spread this sauce on the slices. An even better way is to engulf it in the filling- I tried it recently with the paneer corn sandwich and it tasted amazing!

Salad Dressing: It is called Caesar salad dressing for a reason. The OG ways are the best, but don’t limit yourself to only the Caesar salad, try drizzling it on other green salads and figure out which works the best.

Dipping Sauce: Crisps, roasted veggies, and even grilled meat, whatever you like, just dip them in and savor the deliciousness.

Just a reminder– first shake then serve!

How to Store

You can store it in the fridge for 3-4 days without getting spoiled by placing it in an air-tight container.

Don’t freeze the dressing as it alters the texture and ruins the taste.
