Veg Cheese Grilled Sandwich

Try this Veg cheese grilled sandwich filled with the goodness of mayonnaise and lots of cheese! It is perfect for breakfast meals or can be served as an appetizer during party times.

Yum!

My mother makes this sandwich twice a week as a morning meal and having two of these bad boys sets me up until dinner.

If you are bored eating curry meals like Aloo bhuna, Kali mirch paneer, and Paneer Butter Masala, then this veg cheese grilled sandwich is the cure.

The color of melted cheese, the way cheese leaks out the side of a sandwich, and the best part, the cheese pull- mmmm!

That makes me so much happy!

Which Bread to Choose?

The Tuscan-style bread is the best kind for this Veg cheese sandwich grilled recipe.

The crumb area is tight and there are minimal holes in there, plus when cooked the area remains crisp and doesn’t get pasty.

I couldn’t find any Tuscan-style bread anywhere in my area, so I used simple wheat bread.

Which Cheese to Choose?

It is up to you!

Any kind of cheese can be used, gruyere, brie, gouda, etc. anything goes.

I chose cheddar and mozzarella cheese for the veg cheese grilled sandwich because it is not that expensive and has a nice flavor.

Tip: Do not buy pre-grated cheese, as they are made not to stick together, which makes them not melt really great. So buy a block of cheese and grate it yourself!

Utensils You’ll Need

  • Griddle: To grill the bread.
  • Grater: To grade the cheese.
  • Flat Spatula: For turning bread upside down during grilling.

Ingredients Required for This Veg Grilled Cheese Sandwich Recipe

Bread: If you have availability to Tuscan-style bread, choose that. Otherwise, simple wheat bread from a nearby grocery store works just fine.

Cheese: Processed cheese slices, and shredded cheddar and mozzarella add wonders to the sandwich.

Mayonnaise: Use Mayonnaise is used to grill the bread instead of butter. It has a lot more flavor and a certain tanginess. Brush it on the bread slice first then grill the bread.

Salt & Pepper

3. Place the cheese slices, the shredded cheddar, and mozzarella cheese on the upside face of the bread.

Variations & Tips

Instead of using mayonnaise for grilling the sandwich, you can choose the butter.

Do the stuffing first for the sandwich before placing it on the griddle, if you think the bread is going to burn if you do it my way.

Salt is optional and you can skip adding more because cheese has enough salt in it.

Do not buy pre-grated cheese, because they do not stick and melt properly. Instead, buy the block of cheese, then grate it.

Serving Options

I adore having this veg grilled cheese sandwich on its own.

But the best to enjoy it is with the compliments of chips and a glass of cold milkshake on the side!

And you can serve as a snack when you have guests around.
