  • 2 tbsp Butter
  • 2 cloves Garlic minced
  • ½ tsp Mixed Herbs
  • 2 slices White Bread

Instructions

  • Add melted butter in a bowl, add garlic powder, and mixed herbs, and mix them well.
  • Apply generous amounts of butter on one side of the slice of bread.
  • Place the slices in the air fryer carefully, so that there is no overlapping or overcrowding.
  • Cook the slices at 180°C for 4-5 minutes till you get the golden brown surface on the bread.
  • Your air fryer Texas toast is ready to be served.

Notes

  • Don't overcrowd the air fryer: In order to achieve excellent slices of Texas toast, you need to let them breathe, and evenly get cooked from all sides. Make sure to not overlap them with more slices, or overstuff the air fryer.
  • Bread alternatives: There are a myriad of bread alternatives other than white bread. Whole wheat bread, sourdough bread, and ciabatta bread are all great options, or go for the original Texas bread for a more authentic feel.
  • Used minced garlic: No need to get out of your way and look for garlic powder, you can simply mince some garlic. To raise the bar even more, slightly roast the garlic and then spatter it on the bread.
  • Layer with cheese: If you're looking for a more filling meal, a go-to-snack, or an appetizer that would impress your guests, layer the top is a cheese slice or sprinkle shredded cheese before heating the Texas toast in the air fryer.
  • Don't overspray the air fryer: As the bread is spread with copious amounts of butter to keep the moisture intact, you don't need to spray the air fryer at all. It can make the bread soggy, and even alter the flavor for the worst.

How to store:
In the fridge: Let the toast cool down completely at room temperature, then store them in an air-tight container, or a resealable plastic bag, and place them in the refrigerator for 2-3 days.
In the freezer: Don't freeze this Texas toast, as the texture and taste will spoil while reheating it. Use the thick bread version if you want to freeze the toast.
Reheating: Apply some melted butter on the toast, and reheat it in the air fryer at 180° C for 2-3 minutes.
