Cuisine Indian
- 6 cup Water
- 1 tsp Turmeric powder
- 2 inch Ginger minced
- 1 Lemon squeezed
- Black Pepper Powder a pinch
Switch on the flame to medium and add water, turmeric powder, black pepper powder, lemon juice, and ginger in a saucepan.
Let it simmer for 2-3 minutes over medium heat till you get a nice aroma.
Finally strain the tea to sieve out any ginger chunks to get a smooth liquid, and your turmeric ginger lemon tea is ready to be served.
- Add a sweetener: I find that this beverage tastes better and is more healthy without any sweetener. But if you have a sweet tooth, add natural ones like honey or sometimes maple syrup to keep the flavor profile fresh.
- Ditch the red chili: If spiciness is not for you, then you can simply discard the red chili from the recipe.
How to store:
In the fridge: I use a glass jar to store the tea. In the refrigerator, it can be stored for 2-3 days before the flavors start to degrade.
In the freezer: Freeze the tea in ice trays or silicon molds, then transfer them to an air-tight container and it can last for up to 1 month.
Meal prep: For convenience's sake, I make this ginger lemon turmeric tea in bulk and then freeze it in silicon molds.
Reheating: Take out the desired amount of cubes, and simply give them a boil in a pan.
